This is a fan set created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Shadowfist.  Which one might find ironic given the fact that 2005 was the anniversary year and no official expansion was released, but hey, what the heck!  We've been working on-and-off on it for a couple of months, and it looks to be ready for the fans to shoot down in flames =)

The central story of Revenge of the Seven Masters revolves around a temporary alliance between the Eaters of the Lotus and The Ascended to eliminate the Seven Masters from the Secret War.  To this extent, in 79AD they launch a surprise attack on Wudang Mountain, destroying it and ending the lives of three of the Seven Masters.

Meanwhile, in the 2066 juncture, things are in chaos, and consumers are revolting.  The Purists that haven't been trapped in the Pulp juncture have retreated to a pocket dimension (an inaccessible part of the Netherworld), and are hatching a new master plan eliminate all their rivals from the Secret War.

And while a significant chunk of the Jammer leadership has succumbed to the fatal MonkeyVirus unleashed by the CDCA, the remaining Jammers have been organizing a wide-spread consumer rebellion.  To this, Quan Lo has been aiding the Jammers first in secret, but now overtly, hoping to overthrow the Buro and reshape the future society based on Confucian Principles.

Finally, a lose coalition of Dragons and friends has been summoned into the past by the ghost of Ho Chen to seek revenge for the fallen Masters.  The ancient Dragons are awaking too -- who side will they be on?

This fan-set has several design goals.  First is to bring back the Seven Masters and create more possibilities for this mini-faction.  Second is promoting dual-faction decks by starting a cycle of cards are designed to work in decks with two factions.  There are several cards that do this directly (by providing multiple resources), while others do it abilities that key off other factions.  Future expansions would build on these temporary alliances by introducing new combinations of factions.

Revenge of the Seven Masters introduces a new boldface ability, Join.  The idea is that two characters join forces and kick some butt.  And in the process they can help each other out some.

There are also a couple of minor themes you may pick up on, such as putting Tactics to better use, revisiting some old cards that are rarely played, and increasing the access to the Talents.  Since this is a fictitious set, there are also a couple of cards that are most likely broken --maybe really broken =)  Can you figure out how to play the first turn Kar Fai?

Comments are always welcome!  And special thanks to T-Dogg for all his input (not to mention a few killer cards!)

New Ability

Join:  A character with Join may activate this ability during the controlling player's Main Shot, but not during an attack.  If the character is Unjoined you may choose another Unjoined character you control.  The two characters are now considered Joined.  (Characters that are not Joined are considered Unjoined).

Whenever a Joined character would take damage AND if a character it is Joined with is at the same location, you may redirect any amount of that damage to another character Joined with it.  You may redirect damage in excess of a character's current fighting score to that character.

If a Joined character is the target of an Event, you may change the target of the Event (if legal) to any other Character that is Joined to the target AND at the same location as the original target of the Event.

Characters only become Unjoined when all other characters Joined with them are removed from play, or if the card granting the Join ability is cancelled or blanked.

Example:  Everyday Hero vNew and Netherworld Vet with 2 damage are Joined and attacking.  An opponent plays Operation Killdeer targeting the Netherworld Vet.  You may redirect Operation Killdeer to the Everyday Hero (they are at the same location since they are both attacking).  The Everyday Hero will deal no damage, but the Netherworld Vet will do the full 4, since the Everyday Hero's ability gives Guts to any character Joined to him.

Some bad fiction that was posted with the previews...

Return of the Seven Masters - Chapter 1

Ghao Zhang cackled with glee.  His plan to create a temporary alliance with the Animals from the future had worked perfectly, and the combination of sorcery and explosives had nearly leveled Wudang Mountain.  As soon as he was sure that the remaining masters had met the same fate as Ho Chen, Gold Lion and that accursed Sky Dragon, he turn his attention to repaying the Unspoken Name for his assistance... oh yes, Ghao Zhang would be repay the Animals, just not in a way they expected...

Return of the Seven Masters - Chapter 2

The Unspoken Name had it all figured out, even down to the very day Ghao Zhang would betray them.  It didn't matter, as Kaboom was expendable.  What did matter is that the Ascended were going to get a foothold in 79AD, some Feng Shui sites, and the possibility of altering the future.  That bunch of old monks and sorcerers who called themselves the Seven Masters were the only thing standing in the way, and they'd soon be rid of the last of them.

Return of the Seven Masters - Chapter 3

Li Chen studied the tangrams intently.  While the first attack had been obscured by sorcery, Master Lam and The Demon Horde were clearly visible.  How much like the Lotus he thought, they are drunk with pride in their victory.  "Enough preparation" Li Chen said, "We must depart the Netherworld for ancient China.'

The others gathered up their meager supplies, while Billy Ho voiced his concerned again, "First talking monkeys, and now you say there are Chinese Dragons?  This is too much."

Return of the Seven Masters - Chapter 4

Joe Bananas looked at the monks around him, and was flooded by memories of the last year -- he couldn't believe they were all gone, but the Monkey Virus had done it's work.  Sure, the Buro was having a hard time in 2066 with all the Consumer Riots but they still maintained a grip on power, no matter how tenuous.   The gathered monks waited in silent contemplation.  The were ready to exit through the portal and bring Confucian discipline and stability to oppressed peasants of the future.
